Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

The Red Cross itself does not organise courses. That is done by Red Cross departments and by companies (like us) that have a partnership with the Red Cross. Invoicing goes through the organiser. Unfortunately, due to this construction, it is not possible to pay directly on the Red Cross webshop, which is why you have received a link to our website.

Unfortunately, we cannot send an invoice directly from the order confirmation. To save us a lot of cutting and pasting, we ask you to enter your details again. An invoice will then be sent automatically.

Are you doing the course for business or have you booked for someone else? Unfortunately, this sometimes goes wrong from the Red Cross webshop. In our registration form you can enter all the necessary details for a business invoice so that they will also appear correctly on the invoice.

As mentioned in the order confirmation, invoicing is done via the organiser. So you do not pay the course fee to the Red Cross, but to us as the organiser. Unfortunately, this cannot be done directly from the webshop of the Red Cross. Hence, you have now received a link to pay the course fee.

No, we do cooperate with the Red Cross and use their teaching method, but are not part of the Red Cross.

Yes, our invoices and courses comply with the requirements set by health insurers. However, it is important to submit the invoice only after the course. If you do this beforehand, it often causes problems.

More about our collaboration

Organisers and certification
In the Netherlands, there are various parties that provide first aid courses: first aid associations, Red Cross departments and companies, among others. What should be included in a first aid course is not laid down by law and, in principle, anyone can issue their own first aid certificate. However, most parties choose not to certify themselves, but to go for a recognised certificate from the Red Cross, Orange Cross, NIBHV or the Dutch Resuscitation Council. Joint guidelines have been drawn up by these bodies on how a first responder should act (The NREH 2021). These certifying bodies do not provide courses themselves, but issue a diploma/certificate as an independent party.

So, although this is often thought, the Red Cross itself does not give courses. There are Red Cross departments that run courses, but the vast majority of courses are run by companies (including us) that have a partnership with the Red Cross.

Cooperation with the Red Cross

As a Red Cross Partner, we use Red Cross presentations and lesson plans. We work according to the ‘OTIC’ teaching method prescribed by the Red Cross. This is a method that suits different learning styles making the course accessible to almost everyone. The materials we work with such as manikins, dressing materials, games etc are our own. We have our own classroom and our own instructors.

We work through competence teaching. This means that the instructor tests the competences during the course. There is no separate exam. On successful completion, the instructor informs the Red Cross that the course member is competent and the course member receives a certificate (the same day) from the Red Cross.

Quality assurance

To guarantee quality, the instructors follow regular refresher courses organised by the Red Cross and at least once a year an unannounced audit takes place. In addition to the mandatory refresher courses, all Kusje erop EHBO instructors also follow additional refresher courses to deepen their knowledge and improve their didactic skills. In addition, a few times a year we watch each other during lessons and give each other feedback to keep each other on our toes.

Excellent Partner

As a token of our quality, we have been appointed Excellent Partner First Aid by the Red Cross. Only a small number of companies can call themselves Excellent Partners. Conditions for being an Excellent Partner include high scores in audits and student evaluations. As an Excellent Partner, we are also involved in adjustments/improvements to the courses. A partnership we are proud of!
